The spritsail craft from Tåsinge, Denmark of 1890

This boat was built in 1890 at Tåsinge Island, Denmark. Boats like that were frequently seen in the waters off Svendborg at that time. This one was built for a farmer on the island of Halmø. Besides fisheries the boat was used to ferry schoolchildren and cargo between Halmø and Ærø. Farms usually had such a boat for transport and moving around.

A description and plans of the boat are given in the book by Christian Nielsen, "Wooden Boat Designs, Classic Danish Boats measured and described", Stanford Maritime, London 1980, ISBN 054007396-2.
