This boat was built in 1890 at Tåsinge Island, Denmark. Boats like that
were frequently seen in the waters off Svendborg at that time. This one was
built for a farmer on the island of Halmø. Besides fisheries the boat
was used to ferry schoolchildren and cargo between Halmø and Ærø.
Farms usually had such a boat for transport and moving around.
A description and plans of the boat are given in the book by Christian Nielsen, "Wooden Boat Designs, Classic Danish Boats measured and described", Stanford Maritime, London 1980, ISBN 054007396-2.
The ship model was
built from walnut according to plans from the book by Nielsen (see
above).
