The SCOTTISH MAID had a large sail area and sleek lines. She was one of the fastest sailing ships of her time. She was built 1839 by Alexander Hall & Sons in Aberdeen, Scotland, and was one of the first ships with the so-called Aberdeen bow.
The model's sails are set as running on port tack. Scale 1 : 50, length 63 cm, width 18 cm, height 47 cm
The SCOTTISH MAID is the first ship model I have built. In 1996 it took me 163 hours to make it. This model is not for sale.
The photos on this page are from that time. Here are some more recent photos.
By the way, building such a fine ship is really fun.
One can start dreaming ...
... or think of something completely different.
