The first yacht types were developed by Dutch and English ship builders in 17th and 18th century. They were used as mail ships, for reconnaissance, for passenger transport and for leisure. Early on sailing competitions were organized.
In Scandinavia yachts with even keel and without leeboards were built. This model was built to plans of a yacht of 1840. Swedish and Danish differed only slightly at that time.
The model was built by a very experienced model maker. There are more pictures, several views of the entire ship model taken from all directions, and several closer views of hull, deck and rigging. Click images to enlarge!
This model of the yacht is a fine and pleasant piece of work, a masterpiece.
It was built with sails like the wind on starboard beam. The sails,
rigging and hull are expertly presented.
The ship model is 1 : 50 scale. Length is 64 cm, width 20 cm, height 54 cm.
There is a display case for the model made of pine wood and (rather poor, high reflection) acrylic glass which may be used as protection when picking up the model with your car. The display case will not be shipped on air cargo. The case is 70 cm long, 21 cm wide, 57 cm high.
The model looks best when set without a display case.
The price of the model is 2200 Euro, plus transport cost.
Transport: The ship model can be secured in a transport box. This way,
truck or air cargo over long distances can be safely done.
If you live close by, picking up the model with your car may be a good way, too.
