The
ship was built in Britain as a merchant man and slave ship in 1799. The
Russian-American Company purchased her in 1802, renamed her and manned her with 81
people for the first Russian circumnavigation of the world in 1803-1806,
serving as flagship of Admiral Krusenstern.
In Wikipedia there are articles about Nadezhda (Надежда) with some more information. Drawings of the ship were published several years ago in "Modelist Konstruktor".
The model was built to plans of "Modelist Konstruktor" and other plans of English sloops by a very experienced model maker. There are more pictures, several views of the entire ship model taken from all directions, and several closer views of hull, deck and rigging. Click images to enlarge!
This model of Nadezhda is a very beautiful pleasant piece of work, a rare masterpiece. The ship model was built with sails like wind abaft the beam on starboard tack, nearly all sails set. Hull, deck and rigging are expertly presented with great care of details.
The ship model is 1 : 50 scale. Length is 101 cm, width 35 cm, height 72 cm.
There is a display case for the model made of pine wood and (rather poor, high reflection) acrylic glass which may be used as protection when picking up the model with your car. The display case will not be shipped on air cargo. The case is 111 cm long, 40 cm wide, 76 cm high.
The model looks best when set without a display case.
The price of the model is 10500 Euro, plus transport cost.
Transport: The ship model can be secured in a transport box. This way,
delivery by
truck or air cargo over long distances can be safely done.
If you live
close by, picking up the model with your car may be a good way, too.
