Model of the Kvalsund boat, Bergen Maritime Museum

 

Kvalsund boat, from ca. 600 A.D.

 

The boat was found at Kvalsund, and excavated in 1920.
It was not rebuilt, and the parts are stored in Historal Museum, Bergen.

Some of the parts are displayed in the assembly along the wall.

Model scale 1 : 6

 

The original boat was 18 m long and 3.2 m wide. Draft was 0.8 m, it could carry 20 oarsmen.
