The longboats on large warships were workboats for transport of cargo and people, move supplies or water casks. They could be rowed or sailed when the masts were put up. On occasion they could be fitted with a large gun in the bow that could be used in military operations.
The model was built by a very experienced model maker. There are more pictures, several views of the finished model taken from all directions, and many pictures of the building process. Click images to enlarge!
