The German trader Lisette von Stettin was a topsail schooner like many used in the middle of the 19th century. She made voyages to the Mediterranean and in 1847, when in Naples, the captain ordered a ship's painting by a local artist.
The model was built to plans of schooners of that time and the painting by a very experienced model maker. The ship model was built with sails like close to the wind on starboard tack. There are more pictures, several views of the entire ship model taken from all directions, and several closer views of hull, deck and rigging. Click images to enlarge!
This model of Lisette von Stettin is a nice and pleasant piece of work, a masterpiece. The sails are expertly presented.
The flag flown is the Prussian merchant ensign of that time.
The ship model is 1 : 67 scale. Length is 77 cm, width 24 cm, height 59 cm.
There is a display case for the model made of birch wood and (rather poor, high reflection) acrylic glass which may be used as protection when picking up the model with your car. The display case will not be shipped on air cargo. The case is 82 cm long, 29 cm wide, 62 cm high.
The model looks best when set without a display case.
