The schooner Grampus was built for the US Fisheries Commission in 1886
at Noank, Connecticut. She got a new design of higher speed and safety
compared to traditional fishing schooners of the time. Grampus was in
use for 31 years and conducted successful research investigations for
fish culture in New England.
There is more detail information on Grampus' design and history

The model was built by a very experienced model maker with great care of details. There are more pictures, several views of the entire ship model taken from all directions, and several closer views of hull, deck and rigging. Click images to enlarge!
This model of USFC Grampus is a fine and pleasant piece of work, a masterpiece. The elegant lines of the
schooner ship are clearly shown in the
model.
The ship model is 1 : 50 scale. Length is
87 cm,
width 15 cm, height 73 cm.
There is a display case for the model made of wood and (rather poor, high reflection) acrylic glass which may be used as protection when picking up the model with your car. The display case will not be shipped on air cargo. The case is 93 cm long, 21 cm wide, 76 cm high.
The model looks best when set without a display case.
The price of the model is 2700 Euro, plus transport cost.
Transport: The ship model can be secured in a transport box. This way,
delivery by
truck or air cargo over long distances can be safely done.
If you live
close by, picking up the model with your car may be a good way, too.
