The frigate HMS Euryalus of 1803

HMS Euryalus was launched in 1803 as a Royal Navy 36-gun Apollo-class frigate. She had an eventful history, taking part in a prominent role in the Battle of Trafalgar and the War of 1812. Her service in the Royal Navy went on till 1825 when she was paid off.
There is a fine documentation of her history in a Wikipedia article on HMS Euryalus.

The HMS Euryalus model, photos, description and dimensions

The model was built in 2 1/2 years by a very experienced model maker. The model was built without planking, masting and rigging but with interior fittings, like a real ship those days. Have a look at the building process of the interiors!

The plans were taken from Yedlinsky, Allan (Text) and Kempson, Wayne (Plans): 2 Volumes: Frigates of the Royal Navy HMS Euryalus (36) 1803 : A Plank on Frame Model, Vol I & II, SeaWatchBooks 2011, ISBN: 9780982057995.

There are more pictures, several views of the finished model taken from all directions, details of the model, and many pictures of the building process. Click images to enlarge!

This model is a very beautiful, very fine piece of work, a true master piece. It is made from pear wood, changing darker and lighter varieties to clearly show the timberwork and its fittings. Some parts are made of boxwood or maple.
The ship model is 1 : 48 scale. Length is 110 cm, width 28 cm, height 30 cm.

The stand of the model is built like a dry dock. The model is kept in position by three pins in the keel. The ship model can be taken out of the stand, e.g. for transport.

Price of the ship model and transport

The price of the model is 9500 Euro, plus transport cost. With the model comes a CD with 653 pictures of the building process, many more than shown here on the webpage.

Transport: The ship model can be secured in a transport box. This way, delivery by truck or air cargo over long distances can be safely done.
If you live close by, picking up the model with your car may be a good way, too.
