Ship model
German wheel steamer NAUTILUS of 1870
Scale 1 : 60,
length 113 cm, width 30 cm, height 72 cm,
Price 3200 Euro, plus transport cost
The wheel steamer NAUTILUS was built in 1870 for the Imperial German Navy.
In the book of Wittmer, "Deutschlands Taten zur See", Verlag
Hermann Montanus, Siegen 1915, the page 68 shows a photo of the NAUTILUS
commenting: Old gunboat "Nautilus", 716 (metric) tons, 99 heads, 9 knots (see below,
photo middle part, left).
Please take your time to have a good look at
the set of photos. There are
several views of the entire ship model taken from all directions and several
closer views of hull, deck and rigging. If you click on a photo you will get that photo in high
resolution. Only these high resolution photographs show how much work and
handicraft ability were put in the model. (If you use Microsoft Internet
Explorer or Netscape Navigator or Firefox, press F11 to minimize navigation bars and have a
larger screen with the photos.)
The beautiful,
finely worked, elegant model of the wheel steamer is made of wood and metal. It
is 1 : 60 scale.
Length is 113 cm, width 30 cm,
height 72 cm.
The price of
the model is 3200 Euro, plus transport cost.
Shipping the wheel steamer in a crate by some
package delivery company can be done. Picking up the ship with your car may be a good way, too.
The ship model is available at my home in Recklinghausen. Please contact me, if you are interested
in the ship model.
