Historic ship models - Scottish Maid, View from port

Ship model  SCOTTISH MAID

The SCOTTISH MAID was one of the fastest sailing ships of her time, with large sail area and sleek lines. The schooner was built 1839 by Alexander Hall & Sons, Aberdeen, Scotland. The SCOTTISH MAID was one of the first ships with the so-called Aberdeen bow.

The model's sails are set as running on port tack.

The SCOTTISH MAID is the first ship model I have built. In 1996 it took me 163 hours to make it. The photos on this page are from that time. Here are some recent photos.

By the way, building such a fine ship is really fun.

One can start dreaming ...

... or think of something completely different.
