Yacht models

Juergen Oltmann, Schulweg 9,  D-28790 Schwanewede, Germany,   Tel. +49 421 62 48 22, maritime-kunstobjekte@web.de.

The preferred scale of the yacht models is with 1: 20 to 1:30, for not losing too many details. All necessary parts, which make for a good and authentic design of the deck layout and rig must be made individually, as in ship modeller's shops one usually can't find any useful parts.

Winches from aluminum are turned, the yarns are twisted together on a winch (as is done with thick ropes, including coloured cores). The signatures (ship's name, home port, etc..) can be designed, rails are bent from fine silver wire and soldered. The wire rigging is made of twisted chromed brass wires, window and hatches are made of thin coloured sheets and/or acryl.

Working time needed for a full model may be 2 or 3 months. The yacht model can be delivered to a fair etc., if needed.

When desired Mr. Oltmann can provide also a glass hood fitted to a ground plate (e.g. groove for glass hood).

As rough price estimate you can expect  60 Euro per cm length of model, i.e. a model of 50 cm length costs approx. 3000 Euro (including glass hood and ground plate).
