Maritime
Art Objects
1995 - 2010
- 15 years Maritime Art Objects: experience and know how that
counts!
Juergen Oltmann, Schulweg 9,
D-28790 Schwanewede, Germany, Tel. +49 421 62 48 22,
maritime-kunstobjekte@web.de.
Half-hull
models,
yacht
models,
specially designed models,
historic
ship models and restorations
All ship models are personally
manufactured and/or implemented by Mr. Oltmann.
Basic material is wood, the traditional building material for
ships and ship models.
Each work is accomplished on the basis of plans or engineering drawings, as
far as they are available by the customer and/or by his
extensive archives. The work is always finished in time, especially for fairs,
presentation or ceremonies. For each work a binding cost estimate will be given.
Please visit him at his home (address as given
above) to talk to him and for inspection of his works. In
addition you can have a look at his works
at the fair Bootsausstellung
Hanseboot in Hamburg in October each year. He usually has
a stand there, at the special exhibition ART MARITIM, where many people show
their works in maritime art.

The pieces made by him
do not only have
private collectors as
their customers. Also
shipyards (Blohm & Voss
and
Bremer Vulkan), shipping companies (Briese, Bischoff), yacht
designers (as judel/vrolijk), yacht dealers, and water sports clubs have been
customers. Some ship models have traveled far, not only to Western
European countries, but also to Japan, Australia, Canada, USA, and Venezuela.
Producing half-hull models (and other ship models) is
his profession since 1995 after
getting used to it as a hobby nearly 25 years ago. Mainly
he makes unique works for private
collectors or models for special
business purposes like representations on fairs or presents for colleagues.
His favourite material is wood to show
its beauty in its different shades. But even when the model is painted like the
original, it is made of wood. Size, details and the ground plate can be
very different. Whether you like only the hull or prefer
a detailed deck layout, maybe inclusive the (half)
rig, all your ideas will be realised in perfect quality and sent
to you by mail.
The best basis for a good model is to have construction plans from the hull,
the deck layout, the rig and as many photos as possible to work out the details you
like. Maybe there are plans of your
boat-type in his archive. For unique works, the
price must be unique as well. Before he starts working, of course,
you´ll get a cost-estimate. To give an idea: A
half-hull model of about 40 cm, with deck house of about 20 cm and a ground
plate
from plywood will be roundabout 500 €.
Making the half-hull model will take 3 to 4 weeks,
depending on the complexity of the model and what is waiting for
him in his
workshop.

He lives and works
in the small village Leuchtenburg near Schwanewede and Bremen.
