We visited the museum during a trip to Venice in March 2011. In the Museo Storico Navale objects of ancient naval and medieval and modern Italian naval history are displayed, among them heavy guns of 17th century galleys, old models of those galleys, fragments of their ornamentation and the 1828 model of the last bucintoro.
The history of Venice is a major topic.
I show some photos of three objects: the heavy gun of a 1643 galley, the model of a galley of that time and a collection of five models of Phoenicien ships of 6th century B.C.
