The sailing trawler MASTERHAND LT 1203 of Lowestoft

Sailing trawler MASTERHAND LT 1203 – homeport Lowestoft - was built at Rye on Rock Channel Shipyard by Geo and Thos Smith Ltd. for the sum of 2.400 Pounds Sterling, starting November 1919. She had to be delivered on or before August 1st, 1920.

She started her fishing career after delivery on the North Sea, trawling on the fishing grounds around the Dogger Bank, being mostly 6 weeks out to sea. The catch being put into trunks on ice. The trunks were loaded from the trawler at sea into the tender which was rowed to the fish carrier. The fish carrier had a steam engine and thus could bring the catch of many trawlers speedily to the markets in Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth.
In the year 1947 she was changed to a full motor fishing vessel in Ramsgate.
