Ship model 1840 Chinese junk
Junks have been long since a well known symbol of Chinese maritime
transport and trade. For many centuries they roamed across rivers and
oceans of the Far East, from Singapore to Northern China. They carried
food and wood and were often equipped with cannons.
The flags shown on this ship model are small replicas of the dragon flag
that was taken from a junk during the opium war 1839 - 1842.
Please take your time to have a good look at the set of photos of the
junk model. There are
several views of the entire model and of details. If you click on a
photo you will get that photo in high resolution. Only these high
resolution photographs show how much work and handicraft ability were
put in the model. (If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Firefox,
press F11 to minimize navigation bars and have a larger screen with the
photos.)
This nice model of a junk is 1 : 60 scale. Length is 48 cm, width 16 cm,
height 45 cm.
This model has been already sold. The pictures and the data are shown in
the
gallery of the ship models sold only to let enthusiasts and model
makers enjoy the photos and maybe get ideas or some guidance, if someone
builds such a model by himself.
